Hrithik Roshan will play Super 30 founder Anand Kumar in the biopic on the mathematician. The film will be directed by Vikas Bahl.
Confirming this, film producer Preeti Sinha told HT that Hrithik has given his nod to play the lead character. “We hope to start shooting of the film soon, may be by the end of the year. At present, Hrithik is on a family vacation. He is expected after June 15. We will prepare a plan after discussion,” she said.
According to sources, Hrithik was impressed with the storyline based on powerful real-life story, which has also come out in books published in English, Hindi and other languages.
The female lead opposite Hrithik is not decided yet. “The script of the film is basically on Anand Kumar and his Super 30 students. We will accordingly choose the female cast,” said Preeti.
Sanjeev Duta of Page 3, Life in Metro, Gangester, Heeropanthi and Burfi fame has done the script writing after thorough research. He had also visited Patna along with Bahl and other members and interacted with Super 30 students as well as Anand Kuamr’s family and friends.
Earlier, there were several names, including that of Shahid Kapoor and Ajay Devgan, floating around for the biopic, likely to be named Super 30.
Super 30 is a pioneering initiative of Anand Kumar, launched in 2002 to nurture talented students from underprivileged sections of the society for entrance to IIT. He drew inspiration from his own struggle due to poverty, which prevented him from going to Cambridge University for higher studies.
